Hi, I loved Conan OGL and have been tinkering it, on and off, for about 5 years.

I am definitely looking at conversion between these two systems rather than any kind of switch to Primeval Thule or 2d20 Conan as we are in the middle of a successful campaign, and my players only have previous experience with D&D and Pathfinder. Has anyone else had luck with converting d20 Conan to 5e? If so what was your strategy? What did you keep and what did you toss? Was there anything that became a massive problem, and what should I look out for? I photoshopped us up some blood splattered character sheets and away we went and it's been.mostly successful so far.īut as we're coming up on the characters getting to lvl 6 and facing more dangerous and canny opponents who are more likely to use the advanced combat mechanics, I'm starting to stress about where the cracks might be in meshing the two systems, and what else I might need to work on to make this less of a messy hybrid going forward. Around session 10 I started playing 5e, got excited about the streamlined rules and decided to homebrew my Conan game mid-campaign to get in things like the scaled Proficiency score, streamlined skills and Advantage/Disadvantage mechanic. It's been a blast and we have a great party but we tend to play things fast and loose.

I've been running a campaign using the old Conan d20 system for about 16 sessions now.
